A special Ukrainian Historical Encounters Series event, entitled “The People”s War: National Liberation Struggles in Eastern Ukraine (1917-1932)” was held at NYU’s ever elegant Torch Club on November 10 2011. Dr. Walter Zaryckyj opened the proceedings with a brief overview of the Series and then introduced the evening”s featured speaker Mr. Roman Krutsyk, President of the Kyiv Memorial Society and Director of the Museum of Soviet Occupation, who proceeded to provide a fascinating excursion thru a ‘critical yet badly neglected part of modern Ukrainian history’.
