Valeriy Asadchev

Valeriy Asadchev is a two-term member of the Verkhovna Rada elected in the city of Kyiv. He serves as Deputy Head of the Rada Budgetary Committee. He is a prominent member of the Nasha Ukrayina parliamentary caucus.

Anders Åslund

Anders Åslund is Director of the Russian and Eurasian Affairs Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. He served as an economic advisor to the Russian government from 1991 to 1994 and as an economic advisor to the Ukrainian government from 1994 to 1997.

Ilan Berman

Ilan Berman is Vice President for Policy at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, D.C. An expert on international terrorism and regional security in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Russian Federation, Mr. Berman’s writings have appeared in such publications as the WSJ Europe, Middle East Quarterly, the Washington Times, the Jerusalem Post and the Journal of International Security Affairs and Strategic Review.

Andrew Bihun

Andrew Bihun serves as Senior International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Department of Commerce. In the mid-1990s, Mr. Bihun held the post of Commercial Attache at the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine.

Ihor Birka

Ihor Birka is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Desomark, a Lviv based company specializing in medical technology. In less than five years, Desomark has grown from a modest start-up outfit into a cutting edge firm capable of generating sizable revenue and investor interest.

Kateryna Boryk-Jozefowicz

Kateryna Boryk-Jozefowicz is Director of the Torun Medical Supply Co. Given the large investment in industrial plant that a Polish based firm like Torun has made in Eastern Ukraine, Ms.Jozefowicz is uniquely qualified to comment on the possible impact that the perceived Schengen Divide might have on Polish-Ukrainian economic relations.

Robert Bruce

Mr. Bruce is the U.S. Defense Department’s principal advisor for armaments cooperation with NATO, and with allied and friendly nations in Europe, the former Warsaw Pact and former Soviet Union, and Canada. He frequently represents the Department in NATO and bilateral meetings, advocating armaments cooperation, interoperability, and standardization. He is a retired Army officer and once served as a Military Free Fall Test Parachutist.

Jan Bugajski

Jan Bugajski is Director of the Eastern European Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The project is engaged in an ongoing analysis of broader political trends encompassing twenty states and aspiring states in Eastern Europe, including the political and security impact of NATO and European Union enlargement.

Serhiy Bychkov

Serhiy Bychkov has served as the Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs since 2002. He served as Deputy Governor of Dnipropetrovsk oblast in the late 1990s.

Eric Candle

Eric Candle is President and Owner of EC data, Inc., a telecommunications company with branch offices and affiliations in five European countries. In June 2002 EC data, Inc. and Eurosoft, Inc., with the support of the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council and DOC BISNIS, founded the U.S.-Ukraine Digital Alliance to promote American Hi-Tech companies in Ukraine and assist Ukrainian IT companies entering American market.

Nancy Cochrane

Nancy Cochrane serves with the Economic Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. Her work involves assessing the impact of EU expansion on agricultural sector of Eastern European nations.

Philippe Coessens

Philippe Coessens is Head of the Political, Academic and Justice & Home Affairs Section at the European Union Delegation in Washington since February 2003. Prior to coming to Washington, Mr. Coessens served at Commission Headquarters in Brussels, overseeing the Commission’s contribution to the Common Foreign and Security policy of the EU as Head of Unit “European Correspondent.” Mr. Coessens was with the Belgian Foreign Service from 1979 to 1991.

Alan J. Cohen

Alan J. Cohen has served as Mayor of the City of Ithaca for three terms since 1995. He has made significant inroads into improving the local economic climate by creating the city’s first Office of Economic Development and Department of Human Resources. Ithaca, New York and Kamyanets-Podilsky, Ukraine are sister-cities.

Ariel Cohen

Ariel Cohen is the Research Fellow in Russian and Eurasian Studies at the Heritage Foundation. He manages a policy and research program on Russia, the New Independent States and Central Europe, consulting Congressional staff members and leading American, Eurasian, Eastern and Central European decision makers.

Michael Considine

Michael Considine, International Trade Specialist, is the current Country Manager for Ukraine, U.S. Department of Commerce, BISNIS and has had more than six years experience working with Eurasian countries.

John Costello

John H. Costello, the President and Co-Founder of The Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs, Inc., is a senior executive with more than 25 years experience in international foreign policy, economic development and program management. CNFA is a private, not for profit development corporation founded in 1985, to stimulate economic growth and development in the worldís emerging economies.

William H. Courtney

William H. Courtney is Senior Vice President of DynMeridian Corp. From 1998 to 2000, he served as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. In 1997-98, Ambassador Courtney was Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director of the NSC staff for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia. Previously, he served as Ambassador to Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Christopher Crowley

Christopher Crowley has served as USAID Mission Director to Ukraine since August 1999. He brings a wealth of knowledge concerning transition states accumulated during more than 15 years of work at the USAID in said states.

Anatoliy Danilenko

Anatoliy Danilenko has served as the Head of the Ukrainian State Committee on Land Resources since 1999. Dr. Danilenko was a Member of the Verkhovna Rada from 1994 to 1998. He was elected from the Kyiv oblast.

Paula Dobriansky

Paula Dobriansky is Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs. While her present post requires a focus on U.S. relations with the International Community, Under Secretary Dobriansky is an acknowledged expert on matters relating to the post-Soviet space. In the 1980s, she served as the Director of European and Soviet Affairs at the National Security Council.

Oleksiy Dubas

Oleksiy Dubas is President of the Association Navchal’na Khyha and Director of the Geneza publishing house in Kyiv, Ukraine. Geneza publishes the standard history textbook used throughout the Ukrainian school system. In 2000, every tenth book printed in Ukraine was published by Geneza.

Bohdan Futey

Bohdan Futey has served as Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims since 1987. Judge Futey is actively involved with Democratization and Rule of Law programs organized by the Judicial Conference of the United States, the Department of State and the American Bar Association in Ukraine and Russia.

Pavlo Hajdutsky

Pavlo Hajdutsky serves as the Deputy Head of the President’s Administration and also heads the Economic Policy Department of the President’s Administration of Ukraine. In 1995, Dr. Hajdutsky headed the State Committee on Land Resources. From 1995 to 1996 he was the Minister of Agriculture. In 1997, Dr. Hajdutsky became Deputy Head of the President’s Administration.

Darrin Hartzler

Darrin Hartzler is a Senior Corporate Governance Officer for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector lending arm of the World Bank Group. Prior to joining the IFC”s Washington, D.C. based Corporate Governance Unit, Mr. Hartzler spent the last seven years residing in Kyiv, Ukraine where he was most recently in charge of IFC’s corporate governance technical assistance program for the region.

Oleh Havrylyshyn

Oleh Havrylyshyn is Deputy Director of the European II Department of the IMF and deals with transition country problems of both an operational and more general nature. Before joining the IMF, he was an academic working on international economics and development, then worked in the Ukrainian government in the early years of independence.

John E. Herbst

Ambassador John E. Herbst, Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, arrived on September 13, 2003 to assume the position of U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine. Ambassador Herbst, who has the rank of Minister-Counselor, last served as the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Anatoliy Honcharuk

Anatoliy Honcharuk is currently Vice President for External Relations for the Interpipe Corporation. From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Honcharuk served as Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade.

Dmytro Hryshchenko

Dmytro Hryshchenko founded Hryshchenko & Partners in 1992, and works as director of the law firm. He is one of the authors of Ukraine’s Law on Foreign Economic Activities. He is a member of the International Association of Lawyers.

Vyacheslav Igrunov

Vyacheslav Igrunov is a member of the Russian Duma. He is the Deputy Head of the Committee on CIS Affairs. A member of the Yabloko faction, Mr. Igrunov was a political prisoner under the Soviet Regime from 1975 to 1977.

Natalie Jaresko

Natalie Jaresko was named to the post of President and CEO of the Western NIS Enterprise Fund in February 2001. She is responsible for managing the Fund’s strategic development, setting long-term business goals for portfolio companies and attracting capital to expand business opportunities. Prior to the appointment, Ms. Jaresko, as the Fund’s CIO successfully built a $63 million portfolio that included 19 companies in the region.

Kempton B. Jenkins

Kempton Jenkins is President of the Ukraine-U.S. Business Council. Mr. Jenkins was Corporate Vice President of ARMCO for International and Government Affairs from 1981 to 1990. Since 1990, he has been a Senior Consultant with the public affairs firm APCO Associates.

Yevheniy Kaminsky

Yevheniy Kaminsky is Director of the Ukrainian Institute for International Studies, a body which serves in an advisory capacity to the Verkhovna Rada on issues related to Ukraineís foreign policy. Dr. Kaminsky has been a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences since 1985.

Adrian Karatnycky

Adrian Karatnycky is Senior Scholar and Counselor of Freedom House, one of the world’s most influential human rights monitoring organizations. From 1995 to 2002, he served as the president of the organization. Before coming to Freedom House, Mr. Karatnycky served as head of the AFL-CIO’s Committee on Political Education.

Anatoliy Kinakh

Anatoliy Kinakh is President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Mr. Kinakh served as Prime Minister of Ukraine from April 2001 to November 2002. Prior to his appointment he was a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Andriy Klyuyev

Andriy Klyuyev is the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel & Energy, Nuclear Policy and Safety. Elected from the Donetsk oblast, he previously served as Deputy Head of the Donetsk State Administration.

Victor Kyryliov

Victor Kyryliov heads up the “Electronic Ukraine” Verkhovna Rada Deputies” Group. He is a member of the Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, elected in Luhansk oblast.

Volodymyr Lanovyj

Volodymyr Lanovyj is President of both the Center for Economic Reforms and the National Association of Private Entrepreneurs and Owners. In 1992, Dr. Lanovyj served as Minister of Economy and Vice Premier. Between 1994 and 1998, he was a Member of the Verkhovna Rada.

F. Stephen Larrabee

F. Stephen Larrabee is a Senior Staff member at RAND in Washington, D.C. and holds the RAND Corporate Chair in European Security. From 1978-1981, Dr. Larrabee served on the U.S. National Security Council staff in the White House as a specialist on Soviet-East European affairs and East-West political-military relations.

George Laszkiewicz

George Laszkiewicz is Vice President for International Projects and Development at Alliance Technology Group Inc in its New York office. Dr. Laszkiewicz manages energy, environment and investment projects. He is a consultant to the World Bank and U.S. Government on energy projects in Ukraine.

Nancy Lee

Nancy Lee is the U.S. Treasury Department”s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, responsible for economic and financial issues in U.S. relations with 28 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Southeast Europe and other transition economies of Europe.

Sander Levin

Sander Levin is a member of the United States House of Representatives from Michigan. Representative Levin, among his many responsibilities on the Hill, is a co-Chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus.

Askold Lozynskyj

Askold Lozynskyj was recently elected to his second term as President of the Ukrainian World Congress, the representative forum of Ukrainians in the Diaspora. He has also served as President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

Oleksandr Mazurchak

Oleksandr Mazurchak has served as Mayor of Kamyanets-Podilsky since 1998. In 1994 Mazurchak was elected to the Kamyanets-Podilsky City Council. In 1995 he became Deputy Mayor, Secretary of the City Council and Acting Mayor. In 2002 he was elected the Head of the Regional Association of Mayors.

Nadia McConnell

Nadia McConnell is President of the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, which she helped found in 1991 to promote democratic development and free market reform in Ukraine. The Foundation’s first initiative in Ukraine was the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy, a non-partisan, locally registered, public policy research organization.

John Micgiel

John Micgiel is both Professor of Political Science and Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Europe at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Dr. Micgiel brings a great deal of personal knowledge to the subject of contemporary Ukrainian-Polish relations.

William Miller

William Miller served as the second United States Ambassador to Ukraine. During his tenure, Ambassador Miller was eyewitness to some of the most fundamental transformations of the Ukrainian State, including the ratification of Ukraine’s Constitution.

Richard Murphy

Richard Murphy is Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He joined CSIS in 1990 as special assistant to President David Abshire and was director of government relations from 1991 to 1995 and executive director of the CSIS American-Ukrainian Advisory Committee from 1995 to 1998.

George Nesterczuk

George Nesterczuk is President of Nesterczuk and Associates, a government relations and management consulting firm located in Vienna, VA. Mr. Nesterczuk spent five years as Staff Director of the Civil Service Subcommittee of the Government Reform Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Catherine Novelli

Catherine A. Novelli is the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Europe and the Mediterranean. In that position she is responsible for coordinating U.S. trade policy for Western Europe, Central Europe, the Newly Independent States of the Former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Serhiy Osyka

Serhiy Osyka is presently the Chair of U.S.-Ukraine Inter-parliamentary Commission. Mr. Osyka served as Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade from 1995 to 1999.

Kyle Parker

Kyle Parker is Vice President for Programs at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, DC. Mr. Parker is a specialist in post-Soviet parliamentary development and US political and cultural exchanges with the countries of the former Soviet Union. He has traveled extensively in Ukraine†and frequently accompanies US congressional delegations to the region.

Carlos Pascual

Carlos Pascual is the Coordinator of U.S. Assistance for Europe and Eurasia. He served as the fourth Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine from October 2000 until July 2003.

Grazyna Paturalska

Grazyna Paturalska currently serves as a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Treasury Committee of the Polish Sejm. Prior to her entry into politics, Ms. Paturalska pursued a highly successful business career.

Yuri Pavlenko

Yuri Pavlenko is a member of the Rada and the Head of the Youth Party. His prior work with Ukraine’s NGOs has given him unique insight into the development of independent civil society in Ukraine.

Katya Peppler

Katya Peppler is the Manager of partner relations of the Sea Launch Company and serves as the focal for Sea Launch’s interaction with Ukrainian and Russian partner companies and government agencies.

Victor Pergat

Victor Pergat joined Northland Power in 1995 and is now responsible for development in Europe, including operations in Ukraine. Prior to joining Northland Power, Mr. Pergat held a number of senior level positions in the Canadian Armed Forces, including Brigadier-General.

Herman Pirchner

Herman Pirchner is President of the American Foreign Policy Council. In recent years, in addition to the steady flow of books and articles, the Council has worked with over 100 members of Congress and numerous Executive Branch officials on foreign travel, exchanges and foreign policy briefings. Mr. Pirchner previously served as Director of Legislation for Senator Roger Jepsen (R-Iowa).

Valeriy Pyatnytskyi

Valeri Pyatnytskyi is the Deputy Minister of Economy and European Integration of Ukraine. He has written extensively on the subject of Ukraine”s Accession to the World Trade Organization.

Blair A. Ruble

Blair A. Ruble is currently Director of the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies of the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., where he also serves as Co-Coordinator for Comparative Urban Studies. He has edited nine and is the author of four monographic studies.

Serhiy Rudyk

Serhi Rudyk is the Director of the Foundation for Regional Initiatives, and organization that works with and cultivates the upcoming generation of local governmental leaders in Ukraine.

Michael Sawkiw, Jr.

Michael Sawkiw, Jr. is President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), the leading representative organization of the Ukrainian American community. Since 1996, he has served as Director of the UCCA’s Washington, D.C. Bureau – the Ukrainian National Information Service.

Karol Sep

Karol Sep is the Chief Advisor to the Chairman of Grupa Lotos SA, Mr. Pawel Olechnowicz. Grupa Lotos is a joint-stock company which manages the second largest refinery in Poland and the largest company in the Pomeranian region of Poland.

Yuri Shapoval

Professor Yuri Shapoval is the head of the Center for History, Political Science, and Ethnographic Studies at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He has authored over 400 publications, the majority of which are focused on 20th century Ukrainian history, including the Holodomor of 1932-1933

Stanislav Shevchuk

Stanislav Shevchuk is the Director of the European and Comparative Law Center. Since 2001, Dr. Shevchuk has served as the Deputy Chairman of The Terminology Commission on European Union Law at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Valeriy Sidenko

Valeriy Sidenko is the Director of Economic Programs at the Razumkov Center. The Razumkov Center is considered to be one of the most prestigious political think tanks in Ukraine.

Janusz Steinhof

Janusz Steinhof became the Minister of Economy of Poland in 1997. In 2000, Mr. Steinhof rose to the rank of the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland.

Oleksandr Sushko

Oleksandr Sushko is the Director of the Center for Peace, Conversion and Foreign Policy of Ukraine. Dr. Sushko’s CPCFPU’s Internet Newsletter, provides timely analysis of key political. economic, security and diplomatic issues facing the Ukrainian political and social leadership.

Oleksandr Sych

Oleksandr Sych is Deputy Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk. In the 2002 parliamentary elections in Ukraine, he headed the oblast campaign election committee for Victor Yushchenko’s Nasha Ukrayina. Mr. Sych has also published numerous books and articles on Ukrainian history and current political and social developments in Ukraine.

Artem Taranenko

Artem Taranenko is the Vice President for Economic Policy, European Integration and International Relations of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. A lawyer by training, Mr. Taranenko’s command of the English language has allowed him to work with foreign investors in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Todiychuk

Oleksandr Todiychuk is Chairman of Ukrtransnafta. It would not be an exaggeration to state that Mr. Todiychuk, in his capacity, holds ultimate responsibility for the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.

Ivan Tomych

Ivan Tomych is the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Resources. Prior to his election via the Nasha Ukrayina electoral list, Mr. Tomych was the president of the Association of Farmers and Land Owners of Ukraine.

Yevheniy Utkin

Yevheni Utkin founded Kvazar-Micro in 1990 and has been its Chief Executive Officer ever since. He served as Chairman of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. In 1998, he was awarded the prestigious national “Businessman of the Year” award.

Curt Weldon

Curt Weldon is a member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Rep. Weldon, long affiliated with the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus, has proven to be a key friend of Ukraine on the Hill.

Victor Yanukovich

Victor Yanukovich has served as Prime Minister of Ukraine since November 2002. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Yanukovich served as Chairman of the Donetsk Oblast Council.

Arseniy Yatseniuk

Arseniy Yatseniuk has served as the First Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine since January 2003.

Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi

Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi is currently Charge díAffair of the Ukrainian Embassy to the United States. Prior to his diplomatic posting in Washington DC, he served both in Warsaw and in Brussels.

Yuri Yekhanurov

Yuri Yekhanurov is the Chair of the Rada Committee on Industry and Enterprise. From December 1999 until April 2001, Mr. Yekhanurov served as first Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.
