US-Ukraine Energy Dialogue III was held on April 15-16, 2008 in Washington, DC. The theme of third forum of the US Ukraine Energy Dialogue Series was “Securing Ukraine’s Energy Independence”. Senator Lugar opened the proceedings by asking both Ukraine and the US to pursuit a “Trans-Atlantic Energy Security Strategy”. UA Deputy Minister of Energy and Fuel responded with an extensive “overview” of the Ukraine’s recent intiatives in the areas of energy exploration, transmission, conservation and renewal. Major energy players from the two countries, private and public, provided their imput in two settings: a policy forum on April 15 and a business/investment forum on April 16.
