Ukrainian Experience in 1945A special Ukrainian Historical Encounters Series Event, entitled, “The Ukrainian Experience in 1945 – A 75th Year Retrospective’ was broadcast as a hybrid webinar on September 26th 2020 from the Ukrainian Institute of America. The gathering run seven presentations grouped in three panel sessions geared to take a fresh, critical look at the myriad circumstances/situations in which Ukrainians found themselves during the watershed year of 1945 – from the Nazi concentration camps or ‘slave labor’ factories and various military formations operating globally at the beginning of the stated time period to the Soviet labor camps and Displaced Persons ‘lagers’ at the end of the self same period, with a glimpse at matters in Western Ukraine and Eastern Ukraine as well as in the diaspora of the time.
