The inaugural event of the U.S.-Ukrainian Security Dialogue Series was held on June 23, 2005 on the Hill at 1539 Longworth House Office Building.
Representative Curt Weldon, key sponsor of the gathering, opened the forum; Ukraine’s first astronaut, Rada Deputy Leonid Kandenyuk, provided closing remarks.
Dr. Paul Carter, US DOS Ukraine Political Desk Officer, delivered a critically important interpretative analysis of the “New Century Agenda”, the joint statement concerning an American-Ukrainian Strategic Partnership signed by President Bush and President Yushchenko, during the latter’s visit to Washington in April 2005.
